What happens to my financial aid if I drop a class?

If you drop below 12 units during the first three weeks of the quarter, your Federal Pell Grant will be adjusted according to your enrollment status for three-quarter time, half-time, or less than half-time.

If you drop below 6 units during the first three weeks of the quarter, your Federal Pell Grant will be reduced and you will be billed for any loan funds already disbursed. Other grant awards (such as Cal Grant or UCR Grant) will also generally be cancelled or reduced.

If you drop units after the third week of the quarter but remain enrolled, your financial aid will generally not be adjusted. However, you may have a unit deficit and an academic progress problem at the end of the school year which could affect your future financial aid eligibility.
