Refunds are based on published schedules and the date you officially withdraw or cancel. Refunds from fees and housing for financial aid recipients are returned to financial aid programs. If the amount of your refund from fees and housing is more than the amount of aid received, the difference will first be applied to other debts payable to the University and then refunded to you. Fees and Nonresident Tuition (less a $100 non-refundable UC Statement of Intention to Register fee for new undergraduate students or a $10 cancellation charge for continuing students) are refundable depending on the date of withdrawal. If you complete an academic quarter and have a housing refund, the refund will be returned to you unless you have a financial aid overaward, in which case the refund will be returned to financial aid funds. Other debts to the University may reduce the refund.
Your fee refund is calculated based on whether you are classified as a "new" or "continuing" student and whether you are receiving federal financial aid funds. Your are considered a "new" student for the first term in which you are enrolled at UCR. After that quarter, you are classified as a "continuing" student. This includes students who are readmits or students who enroll in a new matriculation (i.e., a Masters or PhD program after undergraduate enrollment).
