There are lots of ways to pay for college. Some, like scholarships and grants, you don’t have to repay. Others, like loans, you do. You can also earn money through work study or student employment. Review all your options to create a financial aid package that’s right for you.
Types of Financial Aid?
Loans are provided by the federal government, UCR, and private lenders through alternative loan programs. All loans must be repaid. Find out about different types of loans.
Grants are awarded on the basis of financial need and do NOT have to be repaid. Grant funds are provided by the federal government, the State of California, and UCR. Learn what grants are available.
Scholarships are awarded on the basis of merit, academic achievement, athletic ability, or special talents. They do NOT have to be repaid. Sources for scholarships include UCR and outside agencies. Get more scholarship info.
On campus and off campus positions are available through the Federal Work Study program. These jobs allow you to earn money to help pay school costs, including tuition, books, fees, etc. See how to get a work-study position.
